Julie Simmons is an accomplished legal and business leader with specialized expertise supporting high-growth technology and cybersecurity organizations. As General Counsel at IOActive, she oversees global legal and governance functions, partnering with executives to support strategic growth while managing risk across commercial, regulatory, and operational domains.
Julie brings extensive experience in commercial contracting, data privacy, intellectual property, employment, corporate governance, and securities matters. She has built scalable legal frameworks that accelerate deal velocity, strengthen compliance, and support product and go-to-market strategy.
Before joining IOActive, Julie served as VP of Legal and Operations at Stairwell, where she led legal, HR, and compliance functions, redesigned privacy terms, and launched an AI governance framework supporting wide adoption of AI across the organization. She previously held senior legal roles at Red Canary, Webroot, and Carbonite, contributing to major acquisitions and commercial operations.
Julie holds a JD and MBA from the University of Colorado where she occasionally serves as an adjunct professor.
