IOActive's Founder and President to discuss securely leveraging the benefits of cloud computing

Seattle, Wash—September 14, 2009. IOActive, a leading provider of software assurance, compliance and smart grid security services, today announced that Josh Pennell, founder and President, will present Cloud Security Alliance: Key Threats of Cloud Computing and Defensive Countermeasures at IDC'S IT Security conference in London, UK.

Pennell is a founding member of the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA), a non-profit organization formed to promote the use of best practices for providing security assurance within cloud computing, and provide education on the uses of cloud computing to help secure all other forms of computing. During this talk, Pennell will discuss some of the group's research surrounding the cloud's growing threat vectors and attack surfaces. "While there are clearly benefits to investing in various cloud computing models, the lack of standards is concerning. Threats from data leakage to hypervisor attacks and unprotected APIs pose significant financial risk if not properly addressed. IOActive is excited to be part of the industry leading effort to define best practices for providing security assurance within Cloud Computing," said Pennell.
