JASON LARSEN TO PRESENT ON SCADA SECURITY AT THE WASHINGTON TECHNOLOGY INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION (WTIA) EVENT

Seattle, Wash—December 1, 2008. Jason Larsen, principal security consultant at IOActive, will present Cyber Attack of the Critical Infrastructure, to discuss security issues pertaining to SCADA (the Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition). SCADA is used in many industrial control systems, including manufacturing, power grid, power plants and medical equipment. Larsen's presentation will focus on various types of infrastructure attacks, points of entry for attack, SCADA controls, attack surface trends, and SCADA hacking techniques.

About Jason Larsen

As principal security consultant at IOActive, Jason Larsen drives the industrial control systems practice, utilizing his years of experience with the Department of Energy's SCADA test bed. Larsen helps clients secure their critical infrastructure by using innovative methods to detect weakness and anticipate exploits through design review, threat modeling and technical audits. Larsen has penetrated and owned some of the most integral systems in the world. His career began when he was at Idaho State University where he detected Internet-wide stealth scanning. He is an avid participant in the open security community with many contributions including the creation of a penetration toolkit, a Shellcode compression tool, Hogwash Snort, and SPUD.
