IOACTIVE TO KEYNOTE PCI ROADSHOW WITH FORTINET

Director of PCI Services, Ward Spangenberg, to discuss the importance of PCI compliance at seminars across the U.S. and Canada

Seattle, Wash—November 7, 2008. IOActive, a leading provider of comprehensive security services, today announced that Ward Spangenberg, their director of PCI services, will participate in a Fortinet®-sponsored PCI Roadshow, which kicks off on November 11, 2008 in Los Angeles, CA. Fortinet is the pioneer and leading provider of unified threat management (UTM) solutions, designed to integrate core security functionalities into a single, high-performance appliance

Spangenberg and Jason Wright, senior product manager for Fortinet, will discuss current trends regarding PCI DSS, as well as solutions to mitigate companies' network security risks. With the ever-changing security landscape, Spangenberg will emphasize the need for companies to take a proactive approach toward threat and compliance management. To emphasize this point, Spangenberg will present real-world examples of security breaches and the consequences companies faced when PCI compliance was not maintained.

"We are very excited to have an industry leader like IOActive participate in these events. Together, we will educate attendees about how their organizations can achieve PCI compliance and streamline their IT security infrastructures through integrated security solutions in today's challenging economic times," said Wright.

In his talk, Spangenberg will focus on PCI DSS compliance from a practical angle, utilizing real-life examples to demonstrate the high costs of not complying with PCI standards. He will discuss the types of companies that are prime targets for attack and the data that needs to be protected, and introduce a comprehensive lifecycle to achieve and maintain PCI DSS compliance. In addition, he will discuss many well-known companies that were targets of attack and how stolen credit card information was sold.

"I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to team up with Fortinet on this endeavor. Together we have a great opportunity to educate a wide range of individuals about the importance of PCI compliance," said Spangenberg. "Too often PCI is not taken seriously enough by companies, often leading them to face very expensive and detrimental consequences."

The Fortinet PCI Roadshow will visit four cities in the United States and Canada:

  • November 11, 2008. Los Angeles, CA.
  • November 12, 2008. Irving, TX.
  • November 14, 2008. New York, NY.
  • December 2, 2008. Toronto, ON.
