IOActive's Principal Consultant will discuss the use of dynamic tracing for exploitation development and fuzzing.
Seattle, Wash—May 20, 2009. IOActive, a leading provider of comprehensive security services, today announced that one of their Principal Security Consultants, Tiller Beauchamp, was selected to present at the upcoming Shakacon conference in Hawaii. The Shakacon security conference brings industry, government, academia, and independent experts together to share knowledge and network with peers and fellow enthusiasts in a relaxed setting that promotes a "holistic" security view.
Beauchamp will present Dynamic Tracing for Exploitation and Fuzzing Overview and will demonstrate how dynamic tracing can be used to find bugs, visualize code review, and gather critical information about an application. Beauchamp will apply these techniques to OS X and FreeBSD, and discuss dynamic tracing's specific limitations, which can be overcome by using a custom programmatic debugger. Building on this, he will demonstrate how dynamic tracing can be used to fuzz libraries and device drivers.
